Here below you can find two itineraries about Discovering Chioggia, the little Venice, its lagoon and its local food.
ITINERARY OPTION ONE DISCOVERING CHIOGGIA
Arrival in Chioggia in the morning with your own bus and walk along the main street “Corso del Popolo” up to Piazza Vigo, just in front of the Venetian lagoon. You will board on a private boat for a 2- hours navigation throughout the lagoon. The Captain will explain you stories and legends of Chioggia, satisfying all your curiosities about the fishing world.
Navigating these expanse of open water and lands of natural interest you can admire countless mussel parks and numerous species of birds, such as seagulls, herons and sterns, until you will ship to a typical wood floating restaurant called “Cason” or as an alternative in a marina restaurant with a wonderful view on the lagoon. There you will taste a delicious fish lunch, using all local products.
After lunch you will come back by boat to Chioggia, where you will meet your local guide for a visit of our beautiful town , known as the “little Venice”. Chioggia was built in the first centuries on various islands connected each other from bridges and marked by an amazing herring-bone pattern. Among the most important buildings there are the CATHEDRAL OF SANTA MARIA ASSUNTA, PALAZZO POLI which was the place where CARLO GOLDONI lived, father of Italian comedy. Then PALAZZO GRASSI, now University branch, and finally the charming PIAZZETTA VIGO where a lion with wings (the symbol of Venice) dominates the lagoon landscape on the top of a column.
OPTION TWO DISCOVERING CHIOGGIA
Arrival in Chioggia with your own bus and boarding on a private boat for a 2-hours navigation through the lagoon, where the Captain will explain you stories and legends of Chioggia, satisfying all your curiosities about the fishing world. Afterwards you will come back to Chioggia and have a little free walk in its Old Town. You will be charmed strolling around , to the discovery of calli, canals and historic details. You will breathe the smell of fish going for a quick visit at the fish market.
Lunch in a typical restaurant in the heart of the town.

Appetizer: Lagoon fish fry with polenta
First course: Risotto with fishsauce
Main course: Grilled sea bass with mixed salad

The menu is the same for all guests.

The rate includes:
-Guided half day tour of Chioggia (about 2 hours) the day of arrival
-1 Boat Trip of about 2 hours with historical explanations on board
-Fish Lunch including drinks in a “Cason” (floating restaurant over water) o in a “Marina Restaurant ”just in front of the lagoon or in a typical Restaurant in the historical centre.
